If you’re visiting Thailand with kids, you’ll be on the look out for family hotels in Bangkok. There are a number of kids friendly hotels in Bangkok. We think there’s a lot of fun to be had in Bangkok for kids. It’s a big city, a hub for travel in Thailand and most likely where you’ll stay your trip to Thailand with kids. Read my post on things to do in Bangkok with kids here.

Choosing where to stay in Bangkok with kids should be easy thanks to this list I’ve put together of family hotels in Bangkok. Many of these are hotels we have tried and tested on our travels to Bangkok with kids. Where we’ve stayed at the hotel ourselves, I have included our own pictures. If it’s not somewhere we’ve stayed personally, you can be sure it’s a hotel that I have thoroughly researched and found an aspect of it that makes it a great family hotel in Bangkok.

Tips on Finding Family Friendly Hotels in Bangkok

  • While it’s common for hotel rooms in the US to have two double or queen beds, it’s not so common in other parts of the world. I’ve tried to find family hotels in Bangkok that offer either triple rooms, two double or queen beds or have rollaway beds. Charges for rollaway beds always apply in Asia and they can be quite high.
  • It is definitely worth bringing a lightweight inflatable travel bed. For toddlers, there are quite a few different options available on Amazon. The Shrunks make a larger inflatable twin-sized travel bed for kids aged 6+. If you’re travelling with more than one inflatable bed just bring one pump. We’ve never had any trouble asking hotels for extra bedding to use on our inflatable travel beds. Read our complete post on portable toddler beds for more information.
  • Budget hotels in Asia often won’t have cribs for infants and 4 and 5-star hotels will often charge for providing you with an infant crib. We recommend bringing your own pack n play or travel crib. See the travel cribs we recommend in this post.
  • Another point to note is that most SkyTrain stations do not have escalators or lifts and only have stairs. This can be a real pain when travelling with a stroller so you might want to weigh that into consideration when picking a hotel. It can be easier to just taxi around if you’re using a stroller. Or make sure that your stroller can be easily carried up and down SkyTrain stairs by picking a lightweight travel stroller like this.

I’m trying to find a hotel that has a supervised creche that will take 23mths and 12mths old’s. It looks like most of the hotels do supervised kids clubs but they are from 3yrs or 4yrs plus. I’d rather they be with other kids, toys etc, rather than just one babysitter as I think they will feel more comfortable given that they go to creche here in AUS for a couple of hours every few days.

I don’t know of any hotels in Bangkok that do that unfortunately. I think your best bet is probably hiring a nanny and having her take them to somewhere like Funarium.

Hi Bethaney, what a fantastic resource, thank you! We will be in Bangkok for 3 nights in February with our son who will be almost 3. We will be combating jet lag from the US and have limited time so my priorities are: 1) close and easy to attractions (good food markets, khao san road or equiv, grand palace) and 2) comfortable to help w/ jet lag and 3) a balcony or separate sitting area for us to hang in after we (hopefully) get him to sleep. #3 not vital. suggestions for nice hotel in center location near tram and boats? thank you!!!

Hi Sarah. We like being in the Khao San Road area because it’s much easier to walk around with a stroller, walk to eat in restaurants in the evening, not have to worry about taxis or stairs up to the Sky Train etc. Don’t stay on Khao San Road itself, the Soi Rambuttri or Phra Athit Road areas are better. We find it easier to be on this side of town for the evening when it’s more effort to do stuff with little kids and get taxis or take the river boat to the Sky Train to explore the Sukhimvit side of town during the day. Does that make sense? If you stay on a Sky Train route you will have to navigate street traffic that is a bit tricker to walk to restaurants in the evening. Having said that, there is a really good family hotel on Soi 26 (the Arize Hotel) which has cheap suites so you can put your son to bed in the bedroom and shut the door while you hang out in the sitting area. Soi 26 is also where Funarium is located so make sure you visit there with your son! I don’t know of any hotel’s with balconies or sitting areas on the KSR side of town thought. Makes it hard to decide!!! Make sure you pick somewhere with a pool as Bangkok gets hot. Also read through my jet lag in kids post for some tips!
