What to Look for in a Travel Water Kettle

When purchasing a small electric kettle for travel there are a few things you should look out for. Here’s what I suggest you look for in a

  • Capacity – The right capacity of your travel hot water pot depends on how many people you’re brewing for. One cup is roughly 250ml or 8.5 oz so if it’s just times that by how many people you need to make tea or coffee for.
  • Dual voltage – If you’re traveling outside of the US, Canada, Mexico and Japan then you’ll need to purchase a dual voltage travel kettle.
  • Weight – If you’re packing your travel tea kettle in a suitcase or carry on for overseas travel then go as lightweight as possible to minimize your luggage weight. If you’re using it for RVing you probably should be more concerned with the size rather than the weight.
  • Material – Stainless steel is always a great choose for an electric kettle but to minimize weight go for plastic. Silicone is used in conjunstion with stainless steel to make a collapsible electric travel kettle.
